OVERLAND PARK, Kan.- Providence College men's lacrosse midfielder
Tim Hinrichs (Amherst, N.H.) was selected as a finalist for the prestigious 2019 Senior CLASS Award in collegiate lacrosse, as announced Friday, February 21. He is one of 20 lacrosse student-athletes among the list of finalists. The 20 candidates will be narrowed to 10 finalists later in the season.
To be eligible for the award, a student-athlete must be an NCAA Division I senior and have notable achievements in the four domains of community, classroom, character and competition. An acronym for Celebrating Loyalty and Achievement for Staying in School, the Senior CLASS award focuses on the total student-athlete.
"Tim represents the best of the best in Friartown." Providence College men's lacrosse head coach
Chris Gabrielli said. "He continues to set a standard of excellence on the field, in the classroom and within the greater PC community."
Hinrichs has appeared in 50 games over his career and has tallied 50 points on 27 goals and 23 assists. In the 2020 season, Hinrichs has started each game and registered a goal in each contest. He has been a pivotal part of the Friars 3-0 start, the best since the 2013 season. The senior captain was named to the 2019 All-BIG EAST Second Team and the 2020 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team.
In the classroom, Hinrichs has maintained a 3.6 cumulative grade-point average. The finance major has already accepted a full-time position post-graduation. Hinrichs has been named to the BIG EAST All-Academic Team each year and was inducted into the Chi Alpha Sigma Honors Society last year.
Hinrichs has donated his time on many occasions at the Hasbro Children's Hospital over his time at Providence College. When he is back home in Amherst, N.H., Hinrichs assists in running youth lacrosse clinics. Hinrichs uses his skills and knowledge of the game to teach and demonstrate aspiring lacrosse players.
The Senior CLASS Award winner will be announced in conjunction with the 2020 NCAA Men's Lacrosse National Championship in May.
