PROVIDENCE, R.I.- Former Providence College men's lacrosse All-American
Jarrod Neumann '17 was named 2019 Premier Lacrosse League (PLL) Dave Pietramala Defensive Player of the Year on Sept. 19.
Neumann had several signature defensive performances against the league's top players in the inaugural season of the Premier Lacrosse League. Neumann, known for his transition ability, posted five two-pointers in 10 games. Neuman was tied for first among defensemen in goals (five), second for points as a defensemen (10) and ranked second in the league in two-pointers (five). Neumann led the Chaos to a league-best 7-3 regular season record and earned PLL All-Star honors. The Springfield, Mass. native won the fastest shot skills challenge at All-Star weekend, clocking in at 115 mph.
Neumann graduated from Providence College in 2017 and went on to serve as the lacrosse program's graduate assistant, while completing his Masters of Business Administration. In his senior season, Neumann earned USILA/Nike Second-Team All-America recognition and was named to the Inside Lacrosse Media All-America Third-Team. Additionally, he nabbed BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Year as well as All-BIG EAST First Team recognition, BIG EAST All-Tournament Team honors and NEILA All-New England First-Team accolades. Neumann also competed in the 76th Annual USILA/Nike North-South All-Star Game. He was previously drafted 38
th overall by the Colorado Mammoth of the NLL (Sept. 2017) and 25
th overall by the Florida Launch of the MLL (May 2017).
