Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) and
Colin Keating (Ridgewood, N.J.) earned BIG EAST Weekly Awards on Monday, April 29. Boyce was named Defensive Player of the Week for the fourth time this season and Keating was named Midfielder of the Week.
Boyce has been named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week more than any other player in the conference this season. He made 13 saves for a .619 save percentage in the Friars' overtime win over then-No. 17/18 Villanova on Saturday (April 27). The senior goalkeeper allowed just eight goals, marking his ninth performance of the season with 10 or fewer goals against. Boyce has reached double-digits for saves in 10 of 15 games this season. On the year, he holds a .565 save percentage and a 9.91 goals against average. He leads the BIG EAST in save percentage and saves per game (12.67). Boyce is ranked 10
th nationally in save percentage and 14
th in saves per game.
Keating, who is collecting his second-career BIG EAST weekly honor, posted a career-high two points in Saturday's win. He also tallied his first-career goal, which came as the game winner just five seconds into overtime. Keating took all 19 face-offs for the Friars, going 11-for-19 from the 'X' for a .579 winning percentage. On the season, the senior face-off specialist is 98-of-192 on face-offs (.510), which ranks fourth in the BIG EAST. In Saturday's contest, he picked up a game-high seven ground balls. He leads the team this season in ground balls, with 48 in total.
Providence travels to Denver for the BIG EAST Championship Presented by Jeep and will face Georgetown in a semifinal game on Thursday, May 2. Opening face-off is slated for 4:30 p.m. (MT)/6:30 p.m. (ET).
