PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College men's lacrosse player
Brendan Kearns (Wantagh, N.Y.) was drafted to the New York Lizards of Major League Lacrosse on Saturday, March 9. The senior was taken 60
th overall in the seventh round.
Kearns has amassed 127 career points in 53 games for the Friars. He's scored 80 goals, including 13 already this season, and added 47 assists. The senior attackman ranks 11
th all-time in points, 13
th all-time in goals scored and tied for 15
th in all-time assists at Providence. Kearns has been named to BIG EAST Honor Roll twice in the 2019 season (Feb. 11, Mar. 4).
Kearns is the fifth player in program history to be drafted by a Major League Lacrosse (MLL) organization. Brian O'Rorke '05 was taken by the New Jersey Pride with the 73rd overall pick in the 2005 MLL supplemental draft. The Florida Launch selected Andrew Barton '14 (53rd overall pick) in 2014 and
Jarrod Neumann '17 (25th overall pick) in 2017.
James Barclay '18 was then selected by the Charlotte Hounds (57
th overall pick).
