PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Tewaaraton Foundation has announced the 2019 Tewaaraton Award watch list. The watch list was revealed on Thursday, February 28 and includes the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse.

Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) is one of 50 players on the watch list. The Tewaaraton Award, established in 2001, is given annually to the most outstanding American college lacrosse player. The 19
th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held on May 30, 2019 at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.
Boyce, who entered the 2019 campaign as a unanimous Preseason All-BIG EAST Team honoree, has recorded a 2-2 mark in goal for the Friars through the early portion of the season. In 236 minutes of action he holds a 7.37 goals against average and a an impressive .646 save percentage. The senior netminder is coming off a 27-save performance at Saint Joseph's, which earned him BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Feb. 25. He allowed just five goals for the second time this season in that standout game.
The senior captain currently ranks fifth in the nation in goals against average (7.37) and third in save percentage (.676). He's also 14
th in saves per game, averaging 13.25 per contest.
Boyce is one of the most highly decorated players in Providence College lacrosse history. At the conclusion of the 2018 season, he earned All-BIG EAST First Team honors for the third time in his career. He has also picked up USILA Third-Team All-America honors, Inside Lacrosse Media All-America Honorable Mention and BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year recognition during his career.
Boyce played a key role in helping the Friars make back-to-back appearances at the BIG EAST Tournament for the first time in program history (2016, 2017), and their first-ever trip to the BIG EAST Championship game in 2017. In 2017, the Friars also earned their first-ever national ranking in the USILA Coaches' Poll.
Providence College returns to action against Sacred Heart on Saturday, March 2. Opening face-off is set for 1:00 p.m. on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium.
