PROVIDENCE, R.I.– The Providence College volleyball team is set to travel to the Kangaroo Classic on Sept. 7-8 in Kansas City, Mo. Providence will play SIUE on Friday, Sept. 7 at 12:00 p.m. (ET) and Arkansas State at 5:30 p.m. (ET) on the first day of the tournament. The Friars return for two matches on the second day of the tournament (Saturday, Sept. 8), facing Southeast Missouri State at 11:00 a.m. before finishing the tournament against UMKC at 7:00 p.m.Â

SCOUTING THE FRIARS:Â Â The Friars have started the season with a 4-2record after the Boston College Invitational and sweeping the 14
thAnnual Friar Classic. The Friars enter the Kangaroo Classic with four-straight match wins, looking to improve their record on the road.Â

Sophomore
Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) was named the 14
thAnnual Friar Classic MVP on Sept. 1. Barber has played the role of setter, currently leading the Friars in assists, tallying 204 so far this season. She also has recorded seven service aces to help the Friars' offense. Alongside Barber, senior
Allison Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y.) and junior
Lindsey Schaible (Tampa, Fla.) were named to the to the 14
thAnnual Friar Classic All-Tournament Team. Impellizeri currently leads the Friars' attack with 60 kills this season. Schaible aids the offense, leading the Friars in service aces (eight) and recording 43 kills.

Juniors
Addison Root (Wichita, Kan.),
Jenae Alderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and senior
Megan Onyundo (Woodbridge, Va.) have all contributed to the Friars' attack by tallying 52, 43 and 22 kills, respectively. Root, Alderson and Onyundo have also recorded four, three and eight service aces thus far, in the season.

Freshman
Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) has been named the BIG EAST Freshman of the Week (9/4/18). Taylor, the Friars' defensive specialist, has been a key player for the Friars this season and played a critical role in helping her team capture the 14th Annual Friar Volleyball Classic title last weekend. Taylor leads Providence in digs, recording 102 total digs (5.10 dig/s) this season. She has also added 17 assists for the Friars.

Contributing to the Providence defense are Barber, Root, and Onyundo each recording 40, 37 and 37 digs, respectively. Schaible and Impellizeri have been a strong force on the front line, totaling 19 and 16 blocks each.Â

SCOUTING THE COUGARS:Â Â The SIUE Cougars have an overall record of 0-6 this season. They last played at the IUPUI Hampton Inn Invitational on Aug. 31-Sept. 1.

Hope Everett and Rachel McDonald have been the two offensive threats for the Cougars. Everett leads the team, with 50 kills, while McDonald in second with 38 kills.  Mallory Nicholson has been the setter for SIUE as she has 106 assists thus far, this season.

Jordyn Klein has led the Cougars on defense with 76 digs on the season. Everett has contributed to the defense with 19 total blocks.

SCOUTING THE RED WOLVES:The Arkansas State Red Wolves are 2-4 on the 2018 season. The Red Wolves last played in the SMU Doubletree Classic on Aug. 31-Sept.1.

Carlisa May leads the Red Wolves' attack with 89 kills and six service aces. Ellie Watkins is a big help to May, totaling 185 assists this season.

Tatum Ticknor and May have been the two defensive threats for the Red Wolves. Ticknor leads SIUE in digs, recording 91 total digs and 4.55 digs/s. May has contributed to the defense with 49 digs, respectively.Â

Timber Terrell is a strong force in the front line, tallying 24 total blocks.Â

SCOUTING THE REDHAWKS: The Southeast Missouri State RedHawks come into the tournament with a 6-2 overall record. The RedHawks' last match was against Southern Illinois on Sept. 4, where they won in straight sets.

Madara Bajare and Laney Malloy have been the two offensive threats for the RedHawks. Bajare leads the team, with 67 kills, while Malloy's not far behind with 66 kills. Claire Ochs has been the setter for Southeast Missouri State, with 229 assists. Ally Dion aids the RedHawks attack with 12 service aces thus far, this season.

Dion leads the RedHawks defensively recording 80 digs this season. Maggie Adams also helps on defense with 32 total blocks.

SCOUTING THE KANGAROOS: The University of Missouri-Kansas City Kangaroos are 3-3 for the start of the 2018 season. They last played in the Omaha Classic, where they went 1-2, on Aug. 31- Sept. 1.

Tyrecia Lukes is the key player for the Kangaroos' offense, recording 93 kills thus far, this season. Alli Schomers and Kynnedy Myers contribute to the UMKC attack with 156 and 126 assists, respectively.

Rhegan Spiegel and Alicia Harrington lead the Kangaroos' defense with 101 and 91 digs each. Lukes and Emma Dyer both are tied in total blocks with 26 apiece.    Â
