FRIARS HIT THE ROAD TO FACE DREXEL… The Providence College men's lacrosse team will travel to Philadelphia, Pa. to conclude its 2018 non-conference schedule against Drexel on Sunday, March 25. Opening face-off is set for 1:00 p.m.

PROVIDENCE VS. DREXEL ALL-TIME… Providence and Drexel have met twice during the history of the two men's lacrosse programs. The series is currently tied, 1-1. The first meeting was in 1999, with Drexel defeating Providence, 14-10. The second meeting took place in 2017 and was decided in double overtime, with the Friars claiming a 9-8 victory in Providence, R.I.

BOYCE FEATURED ON 2018 TEWAARATON WATCH LIST... The 2018 Tewaaraton Award Watch List was revealed on March 1. The list includes the top players across all three divisions of NCAA lacrosse. Providence College goaltender Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) is one of 50 players on the watch list. The Tewaaraton Award, established in 2001, is given annually to the most outstanding American college lacrosse player. The 18th annual Tewaaraton Award Ceremony will be held on May 31, 2018 at the Smithsonian Institution's National Museum of the American Indian in Washington, D.C.

Boyce, the first player in program history to be named to the Tewaaraton Watch List, is one of the most highly decorated players in Providence College lacrosse history. At the conclusion of the 2017 season, he earned USILA Third-Team All-America honors, Inside Lacrosse Media All-America Honorable Mention, All-BIG EAST First Team and BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Year recognition.

Tate Boyce RANKS 14TH IN THE NATION IN SAVE PERCENTAGE… All-American goaltender Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) ranks 14th in the nation in save percentage (.554). He also ranks 11th in saves per game (11.50).

BOYCE RECORDS SEASON-HIGH 16 SAVES AGAINST SACRED HEART… All-American goaltender Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) recorded a season-high 16 saves against Sacred Heart on March 3. The goalkeeper returned to action on March 6, with 15 saves against UMass Lowell. In the Friars most recent contest against Hofstra on March 17, Boyce posted 11 saves. The goaltender has recorded 92 saves on the season over eight games.

KELLER RECORDS CAREER-HIGH FOUR GOALS… In the loss to UMass Lowell on March 6, senior Joshua Keller (Grand Rapids, Mich.) recorded a career-high four goals. His previous career high for goals in a single game was two. He entered the game with just one goal this season, and now has five on the year, which is tied for fourth on the team.

ONE-GOAL GAMES… Four of the Friars' eight games have been decided by one goal, including three of Providence's five losses. Additionally, two of the three losses have been decided in overtime. Providence's lone victory in a game decided by one goal came against Saint Joseph's (4-3) on Feb. 24.

OVERTIME HEARTBREAK ON THE ROAD... The Friars are 0-2 on the road this season, and each loss was decided in overtime. In their first contest of 2018, the Friars fell at No. 20 Boston University, 12-11, in overtime (Feb. 3). Providence also fell to Sacred Heart in OT, 10-9, on March 3 in Fairfield, Conn.

KEARNS DISHES OUT THE ASSISTS... Brendan Kearns (Wantagh, N.Y.) posts a team-high seven assists on the season. He has registered one assist in seven of the teams eight games.

FACE-OFF GAME… The Friars enter the weekend with a 0.500 winning percentage at the face-off "X". Alex George (Simsbury, Conn.) leads the way, having won 43-of-81 opportunities (.531). RJ Romeo (Wilton, Conn.) has seen the second-most reps at the "X" and is 26-51 (.510).

DOUBLE-DIGIT POINTS… Nick Hatzipetrakos (Syosset, N.Y.) leads the Friars with 17 points on 16 goals and one assist. Four other Friars have cracked double-digits, including Sean Leahey (Cranford, N.J.) and Austin Goltz (Orchard Park, N.Y.) who rank second on the team in goals (11). Leahey has added five assists while Goltz has tallied three. Brendan Kearns (Wantagh, N.Y.) posts 13 points on the season and leads the team with seven assists. Freshman Evan McGreen (Narragansett, R.I.) owns 12 points over eight games with six goals and six assists.

All five players have scored at least one point in five of the Friars' eight games this season.

FRIARS HOLD SAINT JOSEPH'S TO THREE GOALS… The Friars earned a 4-3 victory over Saint Joseph's on Feb. 2. The three goals marked the fewest allowed by Providence since April 23, 2008, when the Friars defeated Wagner, 12-3.

FRIARS PICKED TO FINISH THIRD IN BIG EAST PRESEASON POLL... Providence was picked to finish third in the 2018 BIG EAST Preseason Coaches' Poll, with a total of 16 points. Denver was picked to win the league, having collected five first-place votes and 25 points overall. Villanova was picked to finish second, with one first-place vote and 21 points.

THREE FRIARS EARN PRESEASON ALL-BIG EAST SPOTS... It was announced by the league on Wednesday, Jan. 24 that Providence College men's lacrosse players James Barclay (Toronto, Ontario), Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) and Conner Byrne (Hicksville, N.Y.) were named to the 2018 Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Boyce and Barclay were each honored as unanimous selections.

FIVE FRIARS NAMED TO NEILA PRESEASON TEAMS... Five members of the Providence College lacrosse program were selected to the New England Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (NEILA) Division 1 Preseason Teams. Tate Boyce (Matthews, N.C.) and James Barclay (Toronto, Ontario) were First Team selections. Brendan Kearns (Wantagh, N.Y.), Sean Leahey (Cranford, N.J.) and Conner Byrne (Hicksville, N.Y.) were named to the Second Team.

FRIARS MAKE PROGRAM HISTORY IN 2017... The Friars embark on the 2018 season after a historic 2017 season. The Friars competed in the BIG EAST Championship game for the first time in program history, falling just short of the title in a 10-9 loss to Marquette on May 6, 2017. PC also achieved it's first-ever national ranking (as high as 20).

10 IS THE NUMBER TO BEAT... The Friars posted a 10-7 overall record (3-2 BIG EAST) in 2017, and finished third in the BIG EAST Conference standings. The Friars 10 victories are tied for the most wins in program history for a single season, and are the most wins since 2006.

SCOUTING DREXEL… The Dragons are 3-4 entering Sunday's contest and welcome the Friars in the second game of a three game homestand. Drexel has earned victories over Marist (15-5), Bryant (12-9) and Georgetown (15-10).

Drexel has faced two ranked opponents in 2018, including No. 18 Georgetown and No. 10 Virginia.

PLAYERS TO WATCH… Matthew Varian leads Drexel with 26 points on the season. He has tallied 17 goals and nine assists over seven games. Three other Dragons have posted double digits in the points category, including Reid Bowering (18, 16g/2a), Marshal King (14, 9g/5a) and Will Manganiello (12, 9g/3a).

WHAT'S NEXT… Providence opens BIG EAST Conference play on Saturday, March 31 on Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium in Providence, R.I. Opening face-off is set for 1:00 p.m. A live stream of the game will be available on Friars All-Access (www.Friars.com). The match-up also will be available via commercial radio at WOON 1240 AM.

ROAD WARRIORS… The Friars will play five of their final seven regular-season games on the road. The only remaining home games on the schedule are against St. John's (March 31) and Denver (April 21).
