PROVIDENCE, R.I. –  The Providence College volleyball team is set to match up against Villanova and Georgetown at home this weekend. This marks the second time this season that the Friars will face the Wildcats and Hoyas. The Friars will start the weekend with a match against Villanova on Friday, Nov. 9 at 6:00 p.m. in Alumni Hall. The match will be broadcasted live on the BIG EAST Digital Network via Fox Sports Go. Providence will then finish weekend play with a match against Georgetown on Sunday, Nov. 11 at 1:00 p.m.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS:Â The Providence College Friars head into the weekend with an overall record of 8-17 and a BIG EAST record of 2-12. Providence most recently faced Seton Hall and St. John's on Nov. 2-3. The Friars dropped both matches, 3-1 on the road. Providence is looking to claim two BIG EAST wins in their final home matches of the season.

Providence has three players with over 200 kills. Junior
Addison Root (Wichita, Kan.) and Senior
Allison Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y.) have been the key players for the Friars' attack, especially in BIG EAST match-ups. Root has averaged 14 kills in the last 12 BIG EAST matches and has recorded 290 kills on the season. Her 3.19 kills per set ranks eighth in the BIG EAST. Root has also tallied 23 service aces. Earlier this season against Villanova and Georgetown, Root recorded 14 kills in each match.

Impellizeri is coming off an impressive weekend against St. John's and Seton Hall. In the match against Seton Hall, Impellizeri tied her career high in kills and posted a positive hitting percentage .607. In the season, Impellizeri has recorded 288 kills and a hitting percentage of .347, ranking her fourth in the conference. Impellizeri's 3.16 kills per set ranks ninth in the BIG EAST. Earlier this season against Villanova and Georgetown, Impellizeri recorded 8 and 6 kills, respectively.Â

Junior
Jenae Alderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) also has added over 200 kills to the Friars' attack by tallying 223 kills. Alderson has recorded 19 service aces thus far, this season.  Â

Sophomore
Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn) has been the setter for the Friars this season with 920 total assists. Barber's 10.11 assists per set ranks her second in the BIG EAST for the eighth week in a row. She also has contributed 56 kills and 14 service aces to the Providence offense.
Freshman
Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.), the Friars' defensive specialist, has been a key player for the Friars. Taylor leads Providence in digs, recording 401 and her 4.41 digs per set ranks seventh in the BIG EAST. Taylor is the only freshman ranked in the top-seven for digs.  She has also added 64 assists and 10 service aces for the Friars.

Contributing to the Providence defense are Barber, Alderson and Root, each recording 226, 213 and 174 digs, respectively. Impellizeri and
Lindsey Schaible (Tampa, Fla.) are the strong forces on the front line, totaling 73 and 58 blocks apiece.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS:Â The Villanova Wildcats have an overall record of 14-12 and are 7-7 in the BIG EAST, ranking fourth in conference standings. Villanova last played against No. 19 Marquette and DePaul on Nov. 2-3. The Wildcats went 1-1 that weekend.Â

Clare Delaplane has been the offensive threat for Villanova, recording 273 kills. Amanda Pedersen-Henry, Allie Olsonoski, and Mallory Potts  have contributed to the Wildcats' attack with 235, 207 and 186 kills, respectively. Olsonoski's .308 hitting percentage ranks ninth in the BIG EAST. Ashley Knight has tallied 36 service aces to lead Villanova, thus far, this season. Knight is ranked fourth in the conference.Â

Emma Decker has been the Wildcats' setter for the season. She has totaled 964 assists and her 9.74 assists per set ranks fourth in the BIG EAST.Â

Regan Lough has led the defense for the Wildcats tallying 540 digs and her 5.40 digs per set ranks first in the BIG EAST. Knight, Sarah Allman, and Decker have contributed to Villanova's defense with 217, 214 and 207 digs, respectively.Â

On the defensive front line, Olsonoski and Henry-Pedersen lead the Wildcats in blocks (87 and 75).

SCOUTING THE HOYAS:Â The Georgetown Hoyas have an overall record of 14-12 and are 7-7 in the BIG EAST, ranking fifth in conference standings. Georgetown last played against DePaul and No. 19 Marquette on Nov. 2-3. The Hoyas went 1-1 on the weekend.Â

Iva Vujosevic and Alyssa Sinnette has been the offensive threats for Georgetown, recording 273 (3.25 k/s) and 280 kills (3.22 k/s), respectively. Vujosevic and Sinnette's kills per set rank sixth and seventh in the BIG EAST. Symone Speech has contributed to the Hoya's attack with 262 kills and her .331 hitting percentage ranks sixth in the BIG EAST. Vujosevic and Kenzie Higareda have tallied 35 and 36 service aces, ranking them second and third in the BIG EAST.Â

Margo Pivonka has been the Hoya's setter for the season. Pivonka has totaled 874 assists and her 9.01 assists per set ranks fifth in the BIG EAST.Â

Georgetown has a well-balanced defense with three players recording over 200 digs this season. Higareda has led the defense for the Hoyas tallying 450 digs on the season. Higareda's 4.64 digs per set ranks fifth in the BIG EAST. Jessica Cusi and Vujosevic have also contributed to Georgetown's defense with 244 and 201 digs, respectively.Â

On the defensive front line, Speech and Brennan Wilhile have led the Hoyas in blocks, totaling 95 and 32, respectively. Speech's 1.08 blocks per set ranks fourth in the BIG EAST. Â
