PROVIDENCE, R.I.– The Providence College volleyball team fell to BIG EAST foe Villanova in straight sets (17-25, 21-25, 19-25) on Nov. 8 in Providence, R.I.
1st SET NOTES:
- The Friars fell to the Wildcats in the first set, 25-17.
- Providence was within striking distance with the score showing 18-14 in favor of Villanova, but the Wildcats closed the frame with a 7-3 scoring advantage to take the win.
- Senior
Allison Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y.) recorded four of the Friars' seven kills.
- Junior
Jenae Alderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) led Providence with four digs.
2nd SET NOTES:
- The Wildcats held off a late Friar run to take a 25-21 victory in set No. 2.
- The Friars led 17-16 in the second set. Villanova rallied to regain a 24-17 advantage.
- Providence answered with five-consecutive points, but couldn't hold off the Wildcats as they earned the deciding point.
- Junior
Lindsey Schaible (Tampa, Fla) led Providence with four kills. Alderson and junior
Addison Root (Wichita, Kan.) each added three kills.
3rd SET NOTES:
- Providence fell in the third set, 25-19.
- Root led the Friars with three kills, and
Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) collected a team-best four digs.
MATCH NOTES:
- Impellizeri finished the night with a team-best eight kills.

Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) posted 22 assists and five digs.
- Root added seven kills, five digs and one service ace.
- Taylor led the Friars with 10 digs.
WHAT'S NEXT:
The Friars return to action on Sunday, Nov. 11 against BIG EAST foe Georgetown at 1:00 p.m. in Providence, R.I. Prior to the match, Providence will honor its senior class. The Friars will conclude their regular-season schedule on the road next weekend, with back-to-back matches at Creighton (Nov. 16-17) in Omaha, Neb.
