The Friars dropped the match 3-2 against Georgetown at home on Nov. 11 at Alumni Hall.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College volleyball fell to Georgetown 3-2 at home on Nov. 11 at Alumni Hall. With the loss the Friars are now 8-19 on the season and are 2-14 in BIG EAST play.
 
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Friars were edged by the Hoyas, 25-22.
 
  • The Friars recorded two total team blocks.
 
  • Allison Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y.) led the Friars' attack with five kills and a positive hitting percentage of .833. Impellizeri led all players in the set in kills.
 
  • Addison Root (Wichita, Kan.) and Jenae Alderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.)  contributed to the Providence offense with three kills apiece. 
 
  • Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) recorded 13 assists for the Friars, to lead all players in the set.
 
  • Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) led the Providence defense recording seven digs, to lead all players in the set.
 
  • Root assisted on defense, tallying six digs.
 
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS:
  • After a back and forth battle late in the set, the Hoyas came out on top to win it, 25-23.
 
  • Impellizeri was the strong force for the Providence offense, recording four kills to lead all players in the set.
 
  • Lindsey Schaible (Tampa, Fla.) was not far behind Impellizeri tallying three kills.
 
  • Barber totaled nine assists in the second set.
 
  • Taylor recorded five digs to lead the Friars' defense.
 
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS:
  • Providence went on two 4-0 scoring runs to dominate and win the third set, 25-22.
 
  • The Friars held the Hoyas to a .190 hitting percentage.
 
  • Providence recorded two total team blocks.
 
  • Impellizeri and Schaible led the Friars' attack with five kills apiece.
 
  • Both Impellizeri and Schaible recorded positive hitting percentages of .714 and .625.
 
  • Barber tallied 14 assists to contribute to the Providence offense.
 
  • Taylor recorded seven digs, to lead all players in the set.
 
  •  Megan Onyundo (Woodbridge, Va.) contributed five digs to the Friars' defense. 
 
FOURTH SET HIGHLIGHTS:
  • The Friars went on two 3-0 scoring runs to dominate the fourth set, 25-20.
 
  • Providencetallied three total team blocks.
 
  • Impellizeri led the Providence offense with five kills and a positive hitting percentage of .625.
 
  • Barber recorded 10 assists to lead all players in the fourth set.
 
  • Taylor and Onyundo  led the Providence defense with two digs apiece.
 
FIFTH SET: 
  • Providence dropped the fifth set, 15-12.
 
  • Schaible and Emma Fink (Western Springs, Ill.) led the Friars' attack with two kills apiece. 
 
  • Barber tallied five assists in the fifth set. 
 
  • Taylor and Onyundo each recorded two digs to lead the Providence defense.
 
MATCH NOTES: 
  • The Friars fell to the Hoyas, 3-2.
 
  • As a team, Providence recorded 60 kills, 57 assists, 63 digs and nine total team blocks.  
 
  • The Friars had two players tally double-digit kills.
 
  • Impellizeri led the Friars' offense recording 20 kills (.500 pct.) and best her career high in kills (18).
 
  • Schaible contributed to the Providence attack recording 14 kills (.406 pct.) and tied her career high in kills.
 
  • Barber recorded 48 assists.
 
  • The Friars had three players in double-digit digs
 
  • Taylor led the Friars on defense with 23 digs to lead all players in the match. 
 
  • Onyundo and Root contributed to the Providence defense with 11 and 10 digs, respectively. 
 
WHAT'S NEXT: Providence will travel to Omaha, Neb. on Nov. 16-17 for a double-header against Creighton. The double-header will be the Friars final two matches of the regular season.
