WASHINGTON, D.C. – Providence College volleyball fell to Georgetown on the road on Oct. 13 in Washington, D.C. With the loss the Friars are now 7-12 on the season and are 1-7 in BIG EAST play.
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Friars dropped the first set, 25-16.
- Addison Root (Wichita, Kan.) led the Friars' attack with four kills, to lead all players in the set.
- Jenae Alderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) contributed to the offense with three kills.
- Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) recorded 10 assists in the first set.
- Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) and Root led the Providence defense, recording three digs apiece.
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Providence went on a 6-0 scoring run early in the second set and never looked back, taking the victory, 25-16.
- The Friars held the Hoyas to a .034 hitting percentage.
- Root and Allison Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y.) were the strong forces on the offense, tallying four kills apiece.
- Barber contributed to the Friars' attack recording 10 assists, to lead all players in the set.
- Taylor and Alderson led the Friars' defense tallying four digs apiece.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- The Friars fell to the Hoyas 25-20 in the third set.
- Root and Sarah Daneliak (Naperville, Ill.) led the Providence offense, tallying three and five kills, respectively.
- Barber recorded six assists in the third set.
- Taylor, Alderson and Root each tallied three digs to lead the Friars' defense.
FOURTH SET HIGHLIGHTS:
- Providence dropped the fourth set 25-20.
- Root and Daneliak tallied three and two kills, to lead the Friars' attack.
- Barber tallied 10 assists.
- Alderson and Taylor recorded four and one dig, respectively.
MATCH NOTES:
- The Friars fell to the Hoyas 3-1.
- As a team, Providence recorded 40 kills, 38 assists, 50 digs and six total team blocks.
- Root led the Friars' offense recording 14 kills, while Alderson was not far behind with nine kills.
- Barber recorded 31 assists.
- Taylor and Alderson led the Friars on defense with 11 digs apiece.
WHAT'S NEXT: The Friars will return home to face Butler and Xavier on Oct. 18-20 for the second time this season.
