PROVIDENCE, R.I.– The Providence College volleyball team is set to take on Butler and Xavier for the second time in conference play. The Friars will start the week with a match against the Bulldogs on Thursday, Oct. 18 at 6:00 p.m. (ET) in Alumni Hall. Providence will then finish weekend play with a match against the Musketeers on Saturday, Oct. 20 at 1:00 p.m. (ET).

SCOUTING THE FRIARS: The Providence College Friars head into the week with an overall record of 7-12 and a BIG EAST record of 1-7. Providence most recently faced Villanova and Georgetown on Oct. 12-13. The Friars fell to the Wildcats and Hoyas, 3-1 on the road. Providence is looking to claim two BIG EAST victories at home this week.   Â

Providence has two different players with over 200 kills. Senior
Allison Impellizeri (Seaford, N.Y.) leads the Friar attack this season. Impellizeri has a total of 217 kills and a hitting percentage of .325, ranking her seventh in the conference. Impellizeri's 3.10 kills per set ranks eighth in the BIG EAST. Junior
Addison Root (Wichita, Kan.) has a total of 210 kills with a .192 hitting percentage.

Juniors
Jenae Alderson (Brooklyn Park, Minn.) and
Lindsey Schaible (Tampa, Fla.) have also added at least 100 kills to the Friars' attack by tallying 174 and 107 kills, respectively. Schaible, Root and Alderson have all recorded 15 service aces apiece.

Barber has been the setter for the Friars this season with 695 total assists. Barber's 9.93 assists per set average ranks her second in the BIG EAST for the fifth week in a row.Â

Freshmen
Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.), the Friars' defensive specialist, has been a key player for the Friars. Taylor leads Providence in digs, recording 306 and her 4.37 digs per set ranks seventh in the BIG EAST.  Taylor is the only freshman ranked in the top-seven for digs.  She has also added 54 assists for the Friars.

Contributing to the Providence defense are Barber and Alderson, each recording 178 and 166 digs, respectively. Impellizeri and Schaible are strong forces on the front line, totaling 61 and 43 blocks apiece.

SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS:The Butler Bulldogs have an overall record of 6-15 and are 3-6 in the BIG EAST, ranking seventh in the conference standings. Butler last played against #19 Marquette on Oct. 10 and Xavier on Oct. 13. The Bulldogs went 0-2 that weekend.

Brooke Gregory and Bri Lilly have led the Bulldogs offense with 215 and 195 kills, respectively. Lilly has also recorded 32 service aces. Â

Megan Ramseyer and Maddie Freiwald have been the setters for the Bulldogs this season. Ramseyer has recorded 373 assists, while Freiwald is not far behind with 336 assists. They are ranked seventh and sixth, respectively, in the BIG EAST for total assists.

The Bulldogs have a well-balanced defense with all three liberos recording over 100 digs. Elizabeth Labue leads Butler's defense with 280 digs and her 3.68 dig per set average ranks 10
thin the BIG EAST. Not far behind are defensive specialists Emma Milstead and Taylor Takeda with 169 and 161 digs, respectively. Â

Lilly and Melody Davidson have been a threat on the front line for the Bulldogs. Lilly and Davidson have tallied 113 and 92 blocks ranking them one and two in the BIG EAST.

SCOUTING THE MUSKETEERS:Â The Xavier Musketeers have an overall record of 6-14 and are 4-5 in the BIG EAST, ranking sixth in the conference standings. Xavier last played against DePaul on Oct. 10 and Butler on Oct. 13. The Musketeers went 1-1 that weekend.

Laura Grossman has been the offensive threat for the Musketeers recording 210 kills, ranking 10
thin the BIG EAST. Audrey Adams and Morgan Finn have contributed to the Musketeers' attack with 145 and 136 kills, respectively. Adams .369 hitting percentage ranks first in the BIG EAST.Â

Grossman and Adams have also recorded 29 service aces apiece.

McKena Estes and Nadia Dieudonne have been the Musketeers' setters. Estes has totaled 377 assists and her 5.31 assists per set average ranks 10
thin the BIG EAST. Dieudonne is not far behind with 352 assists.  Â

Meredith Klare and Grossman have led the defense for the Musketeers. Klare has a total of 302 digs on the season and her 4.25 digs per set average ranks eighth in the BIG EAST. Grossman has also contributed to Xavier's defense with 218 digs. On the defensive front line, Jayda Carlton leads the Musketeers in blocks (74) and ranks third in the BIG EAST.Â
