Women's Soccer Set To Host Bryant

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College women's soccer team will host Bryant at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Aug. 27 at the Ray Treacy Track and Field Complex in Providence, R.I.

The Friars are currently 2-0-0 on the season, after claiming back-to-back home wins versus Marist (2-1) on Aug. 21 and Syracuse (1-0) on Aug. 23. The last time the Friars opened up the season with a 2-0-0 record was in 2010.

In Providence's match versus Marist, junior Hannah Wear (South Salem, N.Y.) and senior Courtney Maguire (Smithfield, R.I.) each notched a goal in the win. In the Friars' game versus Syracuse, senior Catherine Zimmerman (Madison, N.J.) scored the lone goal of the game. Zimmerman currently ranks third in all-time scoring with 60 points, moving up in her fourth place position at the conclusion of the 2014 season with 58 points

This past Monday, Aug. 24, junior Kristyn Shea (Piscataway, N.J.) received BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week recognition after posting her first shutout on the season. She made four saves both games versus Marist and Syracuse. Going into the match on Thursday against Bryant, Shea holds a .889 save percentage and a 0.50 goals-against average.

Scouting the Bulldogs

Bryant opens its season with a 0-2-0 record after a 4-0 loss to Akron (Aug. 21) and a 6-0 loss to Kent St. (Aug. 23.).

Last season, the Bulldogs finished with a 4-13-2 (2-4-2 NEC) record. Bryant returns two of their top-five scorers from the 2014 season. Sarah Shucker recorded nine points on three goals and three assists. Melaina Aglieco tallied four points on two goals.

Kayla Conrad started both of the Bulldogs games in goal this season and has played 151 minutes overall. She has recorded a total of eight saves for a .500 save percentage. Rachel Brightman also has seen time in goal, logging 29 minutes overall and one save.
