Men's Lacrosse Set To Host Vermont

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team is set to host Vermont for the second match of the 2015 season on Saturday, Feb. 21 at 1:00 p.m. at the Ray Treacy Track and Field Complex.

Last Time Out
The Friars enter Saturday's game with a 0-1 record. The Friars were defeated by Fairfield, 10-6, in their season opener on Wednesday, Feb. 18 at the Ray Treacy Track and Field Complex. Senior midfielder Greg FitzMaurice (Huntington, N.Y.) paced the Friars' offense with three goals and one assist for four points. Three additional Friars found the back of the cage in the opener. Junior attack Will Mazzone (Stony Brook, N.Y.) tallied one goal and two assists while senior attack Buck McClure (Dallas, Texas) and freshman attack Nick Preston ( Victoria, British Columbia) each scored a goal and registered one assist.

Providence was successful in 12-of-20 clear attempts versus the Stags. Freshman Thomas Laupus (Massapequa, N.Y.) and sophomore Colin McKendrey (Cary, N.C.) battled at the face off "X" for the Friars. Senior goalie Peter Badgley (Summit, N.J.) recorded the start in between the pipes for the Friars where he tallied 15 saves in 60 minutes of action.

Scouting The Catamounts
Vermont currently holds a 0-2 record on the 2015 season. The Catamounts opened their season at Penn State (Feb. 7) with a 15-8 loss. Vermont also dropped their season opener versus Colgate (Feb. 14), 10-8. The Catamonts have been outscored by their opponents, 25-16, despite outshooting their opponents, 82-73.

On the offensive end, Vermont is led by junior James Barlow who has tallied seven points off seven goals. Sophomore Luc LeBlanc has taken all of Vermont's face-offs and owns a .583 win percentage (28-of-48). Junior Justin Rosenburg has started both games and has tallied 22 saves in 120:00 minutes of play and has posted a 12.50 goals against average.
