Catherine Zimmerman Tabbed All-BIG EAST First Team For Women's Soccer

PROVIDENCE, R.I. - It was announced today (Nov. 3) that two members of the Providence College women's soccer team were honored by the BIG EAST Conference for their performance during the 2015 season. Senior forward/midfielder Catherine Zimmerman (Madison, N.J.) was named to the All-BIG EAST First Team, while freshman forward Casey Estey (Kensington, N.H.) was a unanimous selection to the BIG EAST All-Freshman Team.
Zimmerman, earns All-BIG EAST First-Team honors for the second-consecutive season. She is the only player in program history to be named to the First Team, and joins Jenna Roncarati '13 as the only two players in program history to earn BIG EAST honors during each of their four seasons with the team. Zimmerman was a 2012 BIG EAST All-Freshman selection. In 2013, she received All-BIG EAST Second Team honors, and followed with back-to-back First-Team accolades in 2014 and 2015.
Zimmerman enters the BIG EAST Tournament First-Round game vs. DePaul ranked third all-time at Providence in career scoring with 74 points on 31 goals and 12 assists. She has played 65 games during her career with the Black & White, including 64 appearances in the starting line-up. This season, Zimmerman leads the Friars with 16 points on six goals and four assists. She has notched three game-winning goals this season and has started all 19 games.
Estey becomes the seventh player in program history to earn BIG EAST All-Freshman honors, and the first since Zimmerman in 2012. Heading into the Friars' tournament game vs. DePaul, Estey is third on the team in scoring with 10 points on four goals and two assists. She has played in all 19 matches and has scored three game-winning goals.
The Friars are the No. 6 seed in the BIG EAST Championship and will face No. 3 seed DePaul at 2:00 p.m. (ET) on Tuesday, Nov. 3 in Chicago, Ill. in the First Round. The Friars enter post-season play with a 12-7 overall record and posted a 5-4 mark during regular-season conference action. The Friars' 12 victories in 2015 are the most in program history.
