PROVIDENCE, R.I. -
The Providence College men's lacrosse team is set to host three free Coaches Clinics over the next three months as part of their mission to build relationships within the community and spread its passion for the game of lacrosse to the youth in the area.
The first of the three clinics will take place at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Nov. 19. The second clinic is scheduled for 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 17, and the third and final clinic will be held on Saturday, Jan. 16. A start time for the Jan. 16 clinic will be released at a later date. Each clinic will run for approximately two hours on the campus of Providence College. To RSVP to the event, coaches should email Taylor Smith at tsmith18@providence.edu.
In addition to the clinics, the Friars have taken part in a series of other community service events throughout the State. On Saturday, Oct. 3, members of the lacrosse team volunteered their services to help out at the Annual Friar 5k. The student-athletes were positioned throughout the course to show their support to all those running in the event.
On Sunday, Oct. 16, the men attended the annual Blackstone Valley Boy's and Girl's Club Rubber Ducky Race in Cumberland, R.I. Head Coach Chris Gabrielli and the team spent the day preparing and cleaning up at the race. This year, the cause raised over $40,000 for 37 charities. It also marked the seventh year that the team has participated in the event.
Additionally, the lacrosse program has partnered with the VS. Cancer Foundation, an organization aimed at combatting children's cancer and raising awareness nationwide of this disease that affects so many people on a yearly basis. The men were provided a unique opportunity to see the great work that is being done to combat children's cancer during a visit to the Hasbro Children's Hospital in Providence, R.I. The team currently has raised over $14,000 toward the cause. To contribute to the cause, click here.
