PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Members of the Providence College men's lacrosse team attended the Finance Networking Day in New York City on Tuesday, Jan. 6. 10 student-athletes of the Program attended the event that provided networking opportunities with former lacrosse alums, as well as a glimpse into to the finance industry.

Student-Athletes heard from professionals from six different financial firms and got a first-hand look at what it is like to work on a trading desk and the research firms that support them. The day concluded with behind-the-scenes access on the floor of the New York Stock Exchange.

"Tuesday was a very proud day for me," said Head Coach Chris Gabrielli. "I was proud of the way our current student-athletes represented themselves and our Program in New York City during their insightful and personal introduction to the finance industry. I was very proud to witness the Friar Family truly looking out for their own and preparing them for a successful future."

The student-athletes had the opportunity to network with former Providence lacrosse alums as well as former student-athletes. "PC lacrosse alums Matt Pymm '99, Brian McCarthy '00, Brian Kirkwood '92, Rich Dunphy '93, along with Tim Scanlon '90, Mike Flanagan '88, Mark Hibbert '96, Mike Cash `P15 and their colleagues graciously shared their valuable knowledge of the industry with our aspiring current athletes," continued Gabrielli. "We are so grateful for their time, wisdom and sincere interest in educating us about life on Wall Street."

"As my staff and I continue to develop relationships with our very successful alumni network and learn more about what they do, the more equipped we will be to help our current student-athletes reach their goals beyond Providence College and the lacrosse field," Gabrielli shared.

The event was made possible through Providence College's Assistant Athletic Director of External Relations, Kevin Connolly. Gabrielli said, "I cannot thank Kevin Connolly enough for his efforts to help bridge the gap between our current athletes and our proud alums. We plan to make this an annual trip to NYC"

In recent years Providence College alumni have hired lacrosse student-athletes to work at their hedge funds, investment banks, advertising agencies and many other industries. If you or your company has internship or career opportunities, please contact Kevin Connolly at KCONNOL4@Providence.edu.
