PROVIDENCE, R.I. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team announced on Thursday, Jan. 15 that seniors Greg FitzMaurice (Huntington, N.Y.), Billy Haas (Durham, N.C.), Buck McClure (Dallas, Texas), as well as sophomore Jarrod Neumann (Springfield, Mass.) have been named captains for the 2015 season.

In the Friars' 2014 campaign, the second season under the direction of Head Coach Chris Gabrielli, Providence posted an overall record of 4-11 (1-5 BIG EAST).

"We are proud to announce that seniors Greg FitzMaurice, Billy Haas and Buck McClure, along with sophomore Jarrod Neumann will lead the Friars as captains of the 2015 team," said Gabrielli.

Fitzmaurice is not a novice to leadership as he served as captain for the 2014 campaign. In addition, he leads the returners with 16 points off of 11 goals and five assists. In addition, he picked up 17 groundballs and caused five turnovers. He was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll (April 1) last season.

Haas' position as captain is evident on and off the field. He appeared in seven games last season for the Friars as a defensive anchor. He collected three groundballs and caused one turnover.

McClure's leadership will continue to help the success of the program. In 2014, McClure scored two goals for two points on the season. In addition, he collected six groundballs and caused one turnover.

Neumann was the sole sophomore to be selected as captain. Neumann started 14 of the 15 Friar matches in his debut season. He collected 29 groundballs and caused 19 turnovers as a defensive anchor.

"While we teach our student-athletes that they must all lead in order for the team to truly thrive, these four individuals have established themselves as teammates. They can be trusted to help execute the PC way on and off the field every day and they complement each other well in terms of leadership styles," explained Gabrielli.

The Friars will open up their 2015 season with a scrimmage at Yale at 12:00 p.m. in New Haven, Conn.
