DAVIDSON, N.C. - On Friday, August 26th the Providence College women's soccer team tied the Davidson Wildcats, 2-2, in overtime at Alumni Stadium in Davidson, N.C. The Friars are now 0-0-2 overall.
The Wildcats led 1-0 at half after Lauren Mihan scored a left footed shot in the 37th minute of play. In the second half, Providence College sophomore Alyssa Martino (Plainville, Conn.) tied the game when she headed the ball to the far post off a corner kick. Laura Di Clemente (Blue Bell, Pa.) had the assist. In the 62nd minute the Friars took the lead when freshman Kendra McMullan (Londonderry, Northern Ireland) sent a pass to senior Courtney Collins (North Wales, Pa.) who took a shot to the far post that found the back of the net. Eventually Davidson's Rachael Newmister would score the equalizer and send the game into overtime. Providence held a 4-3 advantage in shots during the first 10-minute overtime. In the second overtime, neither team managed a shot attempt.
The Friars will be back in action in North Carolina to take on UNC Charlotte on Sunday, August 28th at 1:00 p.m.
