Volleyball Releases 2009 Schedule

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -

The Providence College volleyball team released its 2009 schedule on Tuesday, April 21. PC will play in six tournaments, including home matches in the 6th Annual Friar Classic, and compete in seven away matches and three home matches. The team's season will end at the 2009 National Independent Tournament in Bakersfield, Calif. on November 21 and 22.

Providence opens the regular season on August 29 and 30 at the Niagara University Tournament in Niagara, N.Y. The Friars play their annual match with cross-town rival Brown on the East Side this season on Tuesday, September 8 at 7:00 p.m.

PC makes its home debut on September 25 and 26 in the 6th Annual Providence College Friar Classic in Alumni Hall. This year's participants include St. Francis (N.Y.), Coppin State and New Hampshire.

After a September 30 tilt at St. Francis (N.Y.), the Friars return home to play in-state rival Bryant on October 6 at 7:00 p.m. Lone senior Abby Majewski (Sunderland, Mass.) will be honored in the team's home finale on Saturday, October 24 at 4:00 p.m. versus the Sacred Heart Pioneers.

After Senior Day, Providence plays its annual match with the Rhode Island Rams on Tuesday, October 27 at 7:00 p.m. in Keaney Gymnasium in Kingston, R.I. Next up, PC travels to Riverdale, N.Y. for a 7:00 p.m. contest with Manhattan College on Wednesday, November 11 in the team's regular season finale. The Friars end the season at the National Independent Tournament on November 21 and 22 in Bakersfield, Calif.
