PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College women's soccer team has signed six players in the class of 2013. "We graduated six seniors, but are excited that Megan Mancarella (Rochester, N.Y.), a three year captain, will return next year for her 5th season. Due to a number of injuries this past season, our current freshmen were afforded some valuable experience in the BIG EAST Conference, but we will return our whole squad next season apart from two starters. We know that our incoming class will make an immediate contribution and they should prove to be a vital part of our success this next season and in the future," said Head Coach Jim McGirr.

Joining Friar soccer next year will be Kelsey Detwiler, a 5'4 forward (Scituate, Mass./South Shore Select), Alyssa Gillespie, a 5'2 forward (Stratford, Ct./CFC United), Chelsea Hunter, a 5'3 forward (Middletown, Ct./Oakwood SC), Ashley Lewis, a 5'6 goalkeeper (Freehold, N.J./Manalapan Shooting Stars), Jenna Roncarati, a 5'9 midfielder (Cumberland, R.I./South Shore Select), and Mary Vercollone, a 5'5 midfielder (Pembroke, Mass./Crusaders United SC).

"This is one of the best recruiting classes Providence College has signed in recent memory, I know each of them will have an immediate impact and will contribute right away. I'm excited about them joining a very experienced squad, which will add some quality depth to our team and push players to fight for their opportunities. This could be the deepest team I have ever had here at Providence, I'm sure they will be a big part of continuing to change our culture," said McGirr.
