Providence, R.I. -
The Providence College volleyball team will square off against cross-town rival Brown on Tuesday, September 16 at 7:00 p.m. in Mullaney Gymnasium. The Friars enter the game with a record of 6-5 while Brown is 3-1. Providence fans can watch the match live through the subscription service on Friars.com.
PC posted a 2-1 record at the Crusader Classic in Worcester, Mass., over the weekend. The Friars defeated Holy Cross, 3-0, on Friday, September 12 and Wagner, 3-2, on Saturday September 13. Providence also fell to Bryant, 3-0, on Saturday.
Co-captain Sara Sheehan (West Chester, Pa.) is quickly moving up in the Friar record books. The 5-8 senior setter needs only one service ace against Brown to pass Aileen Koprowski and move into sole possession of second place on PC's all-time service aces list.
Senior Elizabeth Flynn (Bellerose, N.Y.) continues to put up big numbers for the Friar offense. The 6-0 middle blocker now has 142 kills on the year and is hitting at a blistering .470 clip. Against Wagner on September 13, Flynn posted a season-high 24 kills and added five total blocks as Providence defeated the Seahawks, 3-1.
The Friars continue to get strong contributions from freshman Lauren Fletcher (Syracuse, N.Y.). The 6-1 middle blocker ranks fourth on the team with 57 kills and third in total blocks with 24. Fletcher looks to see significant action in Tuesday's contest against the Bears.
