CAMBRIDGE, Mass. - It was announced on Thursday, March 16 at the Annual Hockey East Banquet that freshman defenseman Cody Wild (North Providence, R.I.) was named to the Hockey East All-Rookie Team and was runner-up for the league's rookie of the year award. Wild is the first Friar to earn All-Rookie Team accolades since Colin McDonald (Wethersfield, Conn.) earned the honor in 2004. Sophomore goalie Tyler Sims (Fort Worth, Texas) received honorable mention.
Wild led all PC defenseman with 21 points on six goals and 15 assists. In addition, he finished fifth overall on the team in scoring and led the Friars with four game-winning goals. His six goals marked the most by a PC rookie defenseman since Sean Whitham tallied eight goals during the 1984-85 season. Wild's 21 points were the most by a first-year blueliner since Regan Kelly recorded 25 points (four goals, 21 assists) during the 2001-02 season. In Hockey East games only, Wild finished tied for fifth among league defensemen with 17 points (five goals, 12 assists).
Sims played in 34 games, including 26 Hockey East contests. He posted a 17-14-2 record, a 2.32 goals against average and a .916 save percentage. He recorded three shutouts and tied a PC record for most shutouts in one season.
