Men's Hockey Ranked In Two National Polls

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College men's hockey team maintained its No. 12 ranking in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll and climbed to No. 11 in the USCHO.com/CSTV Poll, which were released on Monday, January 9. For the Friars, it marks their highest ranking since November 4, 2002 when they were ranked eighth in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll and 10th in the USCHO.com Poll.

The Friars (12-7-1, 9-2-1 Hockey East) are currently in a second-place tie with New Hampshire in the Hockey East standings. Providence split a pair of games over the weekend. On Friday, January 6, the Friars won at No. 20 Boston University, 5-1, for their sixth consecutive victory. The following night, PC fell to No. 5/6 Boston College, 4-1, at Schneider Arena. It marked PC's first home loss of the season and its first home defeat since February 19, 2005.

The Friars are back in action on Sunday, January 15 when they face UMass Lowell at 7:00 p.m.
