PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- The Providence College men's hockey team dropped to No. 13 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll and in the USCHO.com/CSTV Poll, which were released on Monday, January 16. Last week, the Friars were ranked No. 11 in the USCHO.com/CSTV Poll and No. 12 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Poll.
The Friars (12-8-1, 9-4-1 Hockey East) are currently in a second-place tie with New Hampshire in the Hockey East standings. Providence was defeated in its only game last week, dropping a 4-3 overtime decision to UMass Lowell on Sunday, January 15. The Friars led 3-1 with less than five minutes remaining in the third period, but the River Hawks rallied to tie the game and eventually win with 13 seconds remaining in overtime. PC senior defenseman James Pemberton (Cumberland, R.I.) scored a career-high two goals (both on the power-play), while junior Chase Watson (Media, Pa.) added three assists.
The Friars are back in action on January 20-21 with two games at No. 12/12 Maine. The game on Friday, January 20 will be televised live on NESN.
