BALTIMORE, MD. - The Providence College men's lacrosse team fell to Penn State, 11-4, in non-conference action on Wednesday, March 10. The game was played at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore, Md.

Four Friars scored one goal each in the loss. Junior Dan Giuntini (Floral Park, N.Y.) scored the first Friar goal of the game, unassisted, at the 1:54 mark of the first quarter to make the score 4-1. The Nittany Lions answered with two more goals to open the second quarter and take a 6-1 advantage. Freshman Mark Bundra (Manlius, N.Y.) tallied a goal off of an assist from freshman Brendan Ryan (Chatham, N.J.) with 38 seconds remaining in the second quarter to help the Friars get within four at the half, 6-2.

Junior Sean Kirwan (Drexel Hill, Pa.) kept PC's momentum going in the third quarter as he scored just six seconds into play off of an assist from senior Brian O'Rorke (Montclair, N.J.) and made the score 6-3. The Friars managed to hold PSU to one goal in the third quarter, and Penn State entered the final 15 minutes with a 7-3 advantage.

The Lions scored two-straight goals to open the fourth quarter before freshman Mark Dillon (Gaithersburg, Md.) tallied PC's final goal of the evening with 5:22 remaining in the game to make the score 9-4. Dillon's goal was assisted by freshman Carlo Sunseri (Pittsburgh, Pa.). PSU closed out the game with two more goals as the Nittany Lions took an 11-4 victory.

Andrew McMinn (Pittsburgh, Pa.) played all 60 minutes in the cage for Providence and made 12 saves. PSU's Mike Stoltz finished the night with seven stops.

Providence (0-3, 0-0 MAAC) will return to action on Saturday, March 13 as it opens Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC) action against Mount St. Mary's in Emmitsburg, Md. at 1:00 p.m. The Friars and Mountaineers shared the MAAC regular season title last season.
