NEW HAVEN, Conn. -- The Providence College men's golf team opened its fall schedule with a 13th-place finish of 21 schools at the Yale Fall Invitational at the Yale Golf Course in New Haven, Conn. on September 17.
Providence shot a two-day, three-round total of 952 (316-313-323). The Friars were 66 strokes behind the University of Hartford, which won the Invitational with a score of 886 (292-293-301) on the 6,749 yard, par-70 course.
The Friars were led by junior Chris Tobey (Hopkinton, Mass.) who tied for 12th with a 75-74-76--225. PC's other golfers were senior Ben Bridgeo of Southbridge, Mass. (tied 58th, 79-77-83--239), senior Chris Hynes of Warwick, R.I. (tied 77th, 78-82-85--245), senior Dean Cashman of Etna, N.H. (tied 82nd, 84-85-79--248) and senior Mike Nero of Trumbull, Conn. (tied 97th, 88-80-94--262).
SUNY-Binghamton's Adam Fuchs won the individual title with a score of 236 (75-67-75).
The Friars will return to action on September 23-24 at the Dartmouth Invitational at the Hanover Country Club in Hanover, N.H.
