Men’s Golf Wraps Up UConn Invitational

Callan Fahey finished tied for 23rd in the 84-player field.

HAMPDEN, Mass. – The Providence College men's golf team completed the three-day UConn Invitational on Tuesday, Sept. 30 at GreatHorse. The Friars finished 10th in the 15-team field with a score of 902 (+38). Freshman Callan Fahey (Wheaton, Ill.) led the Friars, posting a 221 (+5) to tie for 23rd.
 
The University of Connecticut held off Boston College on the final day to win the tournament at 864 (E). Providence shot a 300 in the opening round, a 299 in the second round and a 303 in the final round. Boston College's Markus Lam won the individual championship in a sudden-death playoff, finishing at four under par.
 
Fahey opened the tournament with a one-under 71, going bogey-free on the back nine with three birdies to card a 33. The freshman recorded eight birdies across 54 holes. In the final round, junior Campbell Skelly (Charleston, S.C.) moved up 12 spots after shooting a one-over 73, highlighted by his second eagle of the season.
