Men’s Golf Places Fourth At UConn Invitational At GreatHorse

Callan Fahey finished tied for second with rounds of 69 and 73 (-2).
HAMPDEN, Mass. – The Providence College men's golf team completed the UConn Invitational at GreatHorse on Tuesday, Sept. 29, in Hampden, Mass. The Friars finished fourth overall with a team score of 593 (+17). The fourth-place finish is the best for the Friars since men's golf was reintroduced last season. Sophomore Callan Fahey (Wheaton, Ill.) led Providence with his career-best individual finish, tying for second. Fahey recorded rounds of 69 and 73 for a 142 (-2). The tournament, which was scheduled for 54 holes, was shortened to 36 holes due to weather.

Rhode Island captured the team title with a score of 578 (+2), while URI's Tony Liu claimed the individual title with a score of 137 (-7). Providence opened with a 295, followed by a 298 in the final round for a 593 (+17).
Fahey recorded nine birdies across 36 holes. Also finishing inside the top 10 for the Friars was freshman Zac Georgantas (Foxborough, Mass.), who shot identical rounds of 73 (+2) for his best finish of the season. Freshman Maurice Hoben III (Jupiter, Fla.) also recorded his best finish of the season, tying for 12th with two rounds of 74 (+4).
