STATESBORO, Ga. – The Providence College men's golf team completed the two-day Bash in the Boro on Tuesday, Oct. 14 at Georgia Southern University Golf Course in Statesboro, Ga. The Friars finished fifth in the 12-team field with a score of 862 (-2). Junior
Joe Halferty (Blue Bell, Pa.) led the Friars, posting a 214 (-2) to place tied for 16th.
Georgia Southern captured the team title, finishing at 833 (-31) over the course of three rounds. Providence shot a 289 in the opening round, a 288 in the second round and a 285 in the final round. Jax State's Stanley Campbell won the individual championship at 10-under par, securing the title on the second playoff hole.
In the second round,
Joe Halferty carded a four-under 68 with a career-high seven birdies, the lowest round of the year for a Friar. In the third and final round, freshman
Will Spring (Concord, Mass.) followed with a six-under 66, posting seven birdies and recording the lowest round by any Providence player this season. Halferty finished the tournament with 13 birdies, while Spring totaled 14. Junior
Campbell Skelly (Charleston, S.C.) added 12 birdies over three rounds and recorded his third eagle of the season in the opening round.
