PC Student-Athletes Excel In The Classroom

PROVIDENCE, R.I. -- Providence College student-athletes excelled in the classroom during the Spring 2001 Semester. Tom Blesso '02 (men's soccer) of Billerica, Mass., Allison Buckley '02 (women's swimming) of Chelmsford, Mass., Kathryn Casserly '02 (women's track) of Galway, Ireland, Amy Drechsler '01 (women's basketball) of Rochester, N.Y., grad student Brian Evans '00 (men's soccer) of North Branford, Conn., Kate Fuller '03 (women's swimming) of Staten Island, N.Y., Kate Gall '02 (women's track) of Cumberland, Md., Matt Jarvis '02 (men's tennis) of Fairhaven, Mass., Meg Landry '01 (field hockey) of Cumberland, R.I., Jeff Matrullo '03 (men's track) Hope, R.I., Jaclyn Ross '04 (women's soccer) of Grafton, Mass., Sam Samberg '01 (women's track) of W. Springfield, Mass., Maggie Singler '01 (women's swimming) of Maplewood, N.J., Megan St. Ledger '04 (softball) of Wilmington, N.C., Heather Tattersall '01 (field hockey) of Bethlehem, N.H., Chrissy Vozab '02 (women's basketball) of Amenia, N.Y. and Hillary Wirtz '01 (field hockey) of Winnetka, Ill. all earned a perfect 4.0 grade point average for the Spring 2001 Semester. Also in the Spring Semester, 114 student-athletes were named to the Dean's List and 55 percent of the student-athletes earned a term GPA of 3.0 or higher.
