Anna Gardiner Named BIG EAST Women’s Track Athlete Of The Week

Gardiner set a facility record in the 5,000-meter invite at the Friar Invitational.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Providence College sophomore Anna Gardiner (Downpatrick, Ireland) was named BIG EAST Women's Track Athlete of the Week, the league announced on Tuesday, April 14. Gardiner earned the honor after winning the 5,000-meter invite at the Friar Invitational at Ray Treacy Track at Hendricken Field on Friday, April 10, in a facility-record and personal-best time of 15:51.78.
 
Gardiner broke the facility record of assistant coach Catarina Rocha, who established the record on April 15, 2016, in 16:07.33.

The Friar men's and women's track teams will return to action on Saturday, April 18 at the Jim Kavanagh Legacy Invitational in Worcester, Mass.
