BOSTON, Mass. – The Providence College women's track team competed at the Boston University Valentine Invitational at Boston University on Saturday, Feb. 14, 2025. Junior
Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland) led the team as she placed ninth in the 800 meters in a time of 2:03.21 in the Invite Section.
Also in the 800 meters Invite Section for the Friars, freshman
Gemma Galvin (Clare, Ireland) ran in a time of 2:08.7.
The Friar women recorded three strong finishes in the Mile. Senior
Cara Laverty (Derry, Ireland) led the group as she competed in the Invite Section and finished in a time of 4:43.24. Laverty was followed by freshman
Kate Currie (Chirstchurch, New Zealand), in a time of 4:44.58. Junior
Kiera Hall (Christchurch, New Zealand) ran in the Open Division and finished in a time of 4:49.24.
Sophomore
Gabrielle Schmidt (Brisbane, Australia) competed in the 3,000 meters Open Division for the Friars. Schmidt had a strong race as she finished in a time of 9:22.70. Freshman
Emilia O'Leary (East Aurora, N.Y.) also competed in the 3,000 meters, as she finished in a personal best time of 9:45.19.
Sophomores
Chloe Higgins (Morristown, N.J.) and
Keira Kelly (Scotch Plains, N.J.) had strong performances in the 400 meters. Higgins ran in the Invite Section and finished in a time of 56:35. Kelly ran in the Open Section and finished 14
th overall in a personal best time of 57:15.
The Friar women's team will return to action on Feb. 22 at the Boston University DMR Invite.
