EUGENE, Ore. – The Providence Friars competed at the NCAA Division I Men's and Women's Track and Field Championship on Thursday June 12 at the University of Oregon in Eugene, Ore.
The Providence women's track squad was led by senior
Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand). May and graduate student
Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) each ran the 1,500 meters semifinals. May finished fifth in her heat in a time of 4:12.07 and qualified for the finals. Flockhart ran a time of 4:14.77. The top five finishers in each heat and next two best times qualified for the Finals on Saturday.
In the 800 meters, sophomore
Maeve O'Neill (Cork, Ireland) ran a time of 2:03.43. O'Neill entered the race seeded 24
th and finished 13
th overall.
May will return to the track on Saturday, June 14 at 9:11 p.m. E.T., in the 1,500 meter final. Graduate student,
Alex Millard (Kent, England), also will be competing on Saturday, June 14, in the 5,000 meter final at 10:55 p.m. ET.
