Women’s Soccer Set To Visit Villanova

The Friars will visit Villanova on Saturday, Oct. 25 at 12:00 p.m.

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's soccer team is set to visit the Villanova University Wildcats (9-7-0, 4-4-0 BIG EAST) on Saturday, Oct. 25. The match will kick off at 12:00 p.m. in Villanova, Pa. and will be available for streaming on ESPN+.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS... The Providence College women's soccer team recently defeated Marquette, 5-0, and improved to 5-6-3 overall with a 2-4-2 mark in BIG EAST play. This season, the Friars have earned victories over Army (1-0), Northeastern (2-1), Sacred Heart (1-0), Seton Hall (2-0) and Marquette (5-0). Providence holds a 4-3-2 mark at home and is 1-3-1 on the road.

Freshmen Courtnee Pickles (Methuen, Mass.) and Isabella Kloock-Jensen (Aabenraa, Denmark) lead the Friars' offense with a team-high seven points on three goals and one assist each. Redshirt-freshmen Amaya Coffie (Warwick, R.I.) is also tied for first on the team in goals, with three. Thaea Mouratidis (Toronto, Ont.) has added six points on a goal and a team-best four assists. Nine players have scored goals for the Friars this season, including five multi-goal scorers. Graduate student goalkeeper Ellie Thallman (Northville, Mich.) has anchored the Friars in net, starting in every match. Thallman has registered a .672 save percentage on 45 saves and has recorded four shutout wins. Stephanie Schoeley (Thedford, Ont.) and Ella McBride (Peterborough, Ont.) have led the Friars' defense, logging 1,247 and 1,136 minutes, respectively.

AWARDS… Six Friars have earned BIG EAST Awards this season.
Lily Gibbs (Dedham, Mass.) was named BIG EAST Freshman of the Week on Aug. 18 after she scored the game-winning goal in the 72nd minute in Friars' win over Army (1-0). It also marked her first-career goal at Providence. Gibbs was recently recognized on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Oct. 6. Gibbs scored her second goal of the season in the 46th minute in the Friars win over Seton Hall (2-1).
Kloock-Jensen was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Sept. 3. She scored the game-winning goal in the 60th minute of the Friars' win over Sacred Heart (1-0). It also marked her first-career goal at Providence.
McBride was named the BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Aug. 25 following the Friars win over Northeastern (2-1). The senior anchored the Friars' defense, logging 90 minutes of action and helped limit Northeastern to only two shots on goal. McBride was also named to the Preseason ALL-BIG EAST Team on Aug. 12.
Courtnee Pickles (Methuen, Mass.) was named to the Big East Weekly Honor Roll on Aug. 25 after she was credited with the game-winning goal in the 67th minute in the Friars win at Northeastern (2-1). It also marked her first-career goal with the Friars.
Schoeley was named BIG EAST Defensive Player of the Week on Sept. 8 following the Friars win over Sacred heart (1-0). The sophomore led the Friar defense, logging 90 minutes of action and helped limit Sacred Heart to only one shot. Schoeley was recently recognized on the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Oct. 6. She was credited with the game-winning goal in the 15th minute of the Friars win over Seton Hall (2-0).
Thallman was named the BIG EAST Goalkeeper of the Week on Aug. 18 following the Friars win over Army (1-0). The graduate student recorded a clean sheet performance in the teams win.

SERIES HISTORY AGAINST VILLANOVA... The Friars hold a 17-13-4 all-time advantage against the Wildcats. In the last meeting between the two teams, Providence and Villanova tied, 3-3, on Oct. 27, 2024 in Providence, R.I.

SCOUTING THE WILDCATS... Villanova enters Saturday's match with a 9-7-4 record and a 4-4-0 mark in BIG EAST play. The Wildcats hold a 5-2-0 record at home this season. Villanova's noteworthy home results include wins over Columbia (1-0) and Marquette (3-0) and losses to Michigan (2-1) and Creighton (1-0).
 
Freshman Avrie Nelson leads Villanova's offense in scoring with 10 points on a team-best five goals. Graduate student Hannah Curtin and Morgan Kotch rank second on the team in scoring with nine points on three goals and two assists each. Junior Alex Little has registered seven points on one goal and a team-best five assists. Eight players have scored goals for the Wildcats this season, including five multi-goal scorers. Senior goalkeeper Hannah Dickinson has anchored the Wildcats in net this season starting in all 16 games. Dickinson has registered a .800 save percentage, a mark that ranks third in the BIG EAST. She has tallied 60 saves and ranks second in the BIG EAST with seven shutouts.

UP NEXT... The Friars will visit DePaul (9-6-0, 4-3-0 BIG EAST) in their regular-season finale on Saturday, Nov. 1, in Chicago, Ill. The game will kick off at 1:00 p.m. and will be available for streaming on ESPN+. Providence holds a 8-7-6 all-time advantage against the Blue Demons. In the last meeting between the two teams, Providence tied DePaul, 1-1, on Oct. 31, 2024 in Providence, R.I.
