Men’s And Women’s Track And Field Teams Compete In Day One Of BIG EAST Championship.

Laura Mooney earned All-BIG EAST for her second-place finish in the 10,000 meters.
VILLANOVA, Pa. – The Providence College men's and women's track and field teams competed in the first day of the BIG EAST Championship in Villanova, Pa., at the Jumbo Elliott Track at Villanova University on Thursday, May 9.
On day one of competition, Laura Mooney (Cappincur, Ireland) and Niamh O'Mahony (Kerry, Ireland) ran the 10,000 meters. Mooney earned an All-BIG EAST accolade for a second-place finish in a time of 33:16.87. O'Mahony followed in a time of 35:16.24 for eighth place.
On the men's side, Abdel Laadjel (Lucan, Ireland) finished fifth in the 10,000 meters with a time of 29:34.26. Claudio Rocha (Peabody, Mass.) ran a 31.02.22 to place 15th.
The Friars return to action tomorrow, May 10 for the second day of BIG EAST competition. Below is the schedule for tomorrow's events.
