Flockhart named Female Track Athlete of the Week for her recent performance in the 3,000 at BU’s Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener.
PROVIDENCE, R.I.– It was announced on Tuesday, Dec. 17 that Providence College graduate student Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England) was named BIG EAST Female Track Athlete of the Week.
Flockhart, a six-time All-American, competed at the Sharon Colyear-Danville Season Opener at Boston University on Saturday, Dec. 7, 2024 where she finished second in the 3,000 meters in a time of 8:45.67 and set the school indoor record. She was the top collegiate finisher in the race. Her time is the sixth fastest in collegiate history. The previous Providence College women's indoor 3,000 meter record was 8.49.18 which was set by Kim Smith at the NCAA Indoor Championship in March 2004.
The Friars are back in action Sunday, Jan. 12 at the UMass Flagship Invitational in Boston, Mass.
