PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College volleyball team was defeated by Butler, 3-0, in BIG EAST action on Friday, Nov. 1 in Providence, R.I. The Friars dropped to 7-16 overall (0-12 BIG EAST), while Butler improved to 6-17 (4-7) BIG EAST.
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS: Butler earned a 25-20 victory in the first set.
- The two teams played evenly to reach a 14-14 tie.
- Butler took a 16-14 lead, forcing Providence to call a timeout.
- The Bulldogs extended their lead to 21-18.
- Butler maintained its lead and won set one 25-20.
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS: Butler won the second set, 25-22.
- Butler got out to a quick 6-3 advantage.
- Providence came back to tie the set 9-9.
- The Bulldogs went on an 8-2 run to take a 17-11 advantage.
- Providence fought back to narrow Butler's lead to 22-21, forcing the Bulldogs to call a timeout.
- Butler held on to win the set, 25-22.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS: UConn took the third set 25-21 and won the match 3-0.
- The two teams fought back-and-forth to reach a 4-4 tie.
- Butler went on a 5-1 run to take a 9-5 advantage, forcing Providence to take a timeout.
- The Bulldogs extended their lead to 13-6.
- Providence went on a 9-1 run to take a 15-14 advantage.
- Butler went on a 4-2 run to retake the lead (19-16).
- The Bulldogs maintained their lead and won the set 25-23.

Sophia Adkins recorded 11 kills for the Friars.
Macy Taylor tallied three kills, six digs and six aces.
Providence recorded 27 kills, 20 digs, six blocks and eight aces.
