Volleyball Defeats Seton Hall In BIG EAST Action, 3-0

The Friars will return to action on Saturday in Alumni Hall at 3:00 p.m. to face the St. John’s Red Storm.

PROVIDENCE R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team (9-7, 1-4 BIG EAST) defeated Seton Hall University (8-9, 0-5 BIG EAST) in straight sets (3-0) in BIG EAST action on Friday, Oct. 9.
 
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS: The Friars took set one, 25-18.  
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS: Providence took set two, 25-21, and led the match, 2-0.
  • It was a closely fought second set that featured seven ties, including the final one at 20-20, before the Friars pulled away with four consecutive points to take a 24-20 lead.
  • The Friars held Seton Hall to a .047 hitting percentage. 
  • The Friars' Ava Dyer had six digs and a service ace in the set. 
  • PC's Tori Otter recorded six block assists while Aubrey Easterwood tallied five in the set.
  •  Sarah Musial and Miller McDonald combined for nine assists to pace the Friar.
 
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS: The Friars took set three, 25-17, and swept the match. 
  • The Friars scored the first point and never relinquished the lead.
  • The Friars went on a 6-2 run in the middle of the set to build a 15-10 lead. 
  • PC had 14 digs in the set.
  • The Friars had a .250 hitting percentage for the set. 
 
MATCH NOTES:
  • The victory over the Pirates gave the Friars their first BIG EAST win of the season.
  • Tori Otter had eight kills and 11 block assists for the Friars.
  • Aubrey Easterwood had 11 blocks assists.
  • Ava Dyer registered 12 digs in the match. 
 
WHAT'S NEXT: The Friars return to action tomorrow, Saturday, Oct. 10th at 3:00 p.m. (ET) to face St. John's University in Alumni Hall.
