NASHVILLE, Tenn. – Incoming Providence College men's hockey freshman Hudson Malinoski (Saskatoon, Sask.) was selected by the Toronto Maple Leafs in the fifth round (153
rd overall) on day two of the 2023 NHL Entry Draft held at Bridgestone Arena in Nashville, Tenn. on Thursday (June 29). Malinoski is the fifth member of the program to be drafted by Toronto and first since 2004.
Malinoski, a 6-1, 174-pound forward was a AJHL All-Rookie Team selection after totaling 16 goals and 53 assists in 44 games played with the Brooks Bandits in 2022-23. Malinoski also helped guide Brooks to the 2023 Centennial Cup championship as the top Junior "A" team in Canada, finishing second in scoring with 10 points on four goals and six assists. He also appeared in seven games for Canada West at the 2022 World Jr. A Challenge, registering four goals and three assists in six games. Prior to Brooks, Malinoski posted 31 goals and 29 assists in 43 games with the U18 squad of the Saskatoon Blazers.
