PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – The Providence College track team competed in the final day of the Penn Relays on Saturday, April 29 in Philadelphia, Pa. The Friars took first place in the women's Championship of America 4x1500 meters with a program record.
The 4x1500 team of Alex O'Neill (Ennis, Ireland), Shannon Flockhart (Longstanton, England), Jane Buckley (Cork, Ireland) and Kimberley May (Auckland, New Zealand) won the event in a time of 17:11.35, setting a program record. The splits were –
Alex O'Neill: 4:24.9
Shannon Flockhart: 4:16.7
Jane Buckley: 4:17.8
Kimberley May: 4:11.9
The Friars last won the event in 1991 when Anita Philpott, Geraldine Nolan, Natalie Davey, and Geraldine Hendricken set a world record and the previous school record of 17.22.30.

The Friars will compete at the BIG EAST Championship on May 12-13 in Villanova, Pa. at the Jumbo Elliott Track on Villanova University's campus.
