Volleyball Defeated By Villanova In Four Sets

Miller McDonald recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 39 assists and 11 digs.

Providence, R.I. - The Providence College volleyball team was defeated by Villanova, 3-1, on Friday, November 17 in Providence R.I. Miller McDonald (Dallas, Texas) recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 39 assists and 11 digs.
 
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS: Villanova took the first set, 25-20.
- The Friars got off to a quick 5-2 lead to start the set.
- The Wildcats went on a 10-3 run to take a 12-8 lead forcing a Providence timeout.
- Providence tied the set at 14-14 before Villanova went on a 5-2 run to take back the lead at 19-16.
- The Wildcats closed out the set, winning 25-20.
- Macy Taylor (Rowlett, Texas) recorded five kills in the first set. 
 
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS: Providence won the second set, 25-20, to tie the match at 1-1.
- The Friars went on a 5-1 run to start the second set.
- Providence extended its lead to 12-6 in the middle of the set causing Villanova to call a timeout.
- The Friars went on a 5-3 run after the timeout to make it 17-9 forcing the Wildcats second timeout of the set.
- Villanova scored seven of the next 11 points to cut the score to 21-16.
- Providence closed out the set, winning 25-20.
- Shaliyah Rhoden (Rowlett, Texas) registered six kills in the second set. 
 
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS: The Wildcats won the third set, 25-19, to take the 2-1 edge in the match.
- The two teams went back-and-forth to start the third set making it 5-5.
- Villanova went on an 8-3 run to take the 13-8 lead in the set.
- The Wildcats controlled the lead for the remainder of the set, winning 25-19.
- Jiji Lykins (Coral Springs, Fla.) had six digs in the third set.
 
FOURTH SET HIGHLIGHTS: Villanova won the fourth set, 25-19, for the match.
- The two teams went back-and-forth to start the set making it 7-7.
- The Friars held a 14-13 lead in the middle of the set.
- The Wildcats went on a 4-2 run to make it 17-15 causing a Providence timeout.
- Villanova closed out the set, winning 25-19.
 
MATCH NOTES:
- Rhoden led the Friars' offense in kills, with13.
- Lykins had a team-high 17 digs.
- Shea Dupuis (Richardson, Texas) recorded four blocks.
- Miller McDonald recorded her fifth double-double of the season with 39 assists and 11 digs.
