PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College volleyball team was defeated by No. 15 Creighton, 3-0, on Saturday, Oct. 21 in Providence, R.I. Shaliyah Rhoden paced the Friar effort with 12 kills.
RECORDS:
Creighton – 17-4 (8-2 BIG EAST)
Providence – 8-14 (2-8 BIG EAST)
1ST SET: Creighton won the first set, 25-7.
• The Blue Jays controlled the first set as they had 14 kills.
• Creighton took a 6-0 lead and built on it the remainder of the set.
• Shaliyah Rhoden led the way for the Friars with three kills and two digs.
• Miller McDonald had six assists to lead the Friars.
2ND SET: Creighton won the second set, 25-21.
• Providence got out to a 7-2 lead in the second set.
• The Friars held the lead for the majority of the set, including a 19-13 edge.
• Creighton finished the set on a 12-2 run to take the 2-0 lead.
• Rhoden had five kills.
• McDonald added 12 assists.
• Jiji Lykins registered a set high six digs.
3RD SET: Creighton won the third set, 25-19, to capture the match, 3-0.
• The Friars battled for the entire third set.
• Sammie Ruggles recorded a service ace to cut the deficit to three (13-16).
• The Blue Jays outscored the Friars, 9-6, over the remainder of the set to win the match.
• Miller recorded 10 assists for PC.
• Rhoden had four kills.
NOTES:
• Rhoden paced the Friars with 12 kills and three digs.
• McDonald registered 28 assists.
• Lykins led the Friars in digs, with eight.
