PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College volleyball team was defeated by Marquette, 3-0, on Sunday, October 1 at Alumni Hall in Providence, R.I.
FIRST SET HIGHLIGHTS: Marquette won the first set, 25-9.
- The Golden Eagles started the first set on an 8-4 run.
- Marquette extended its lead to 13-7, forcing a Friars timeout.
- The Golden Eagles closed out the set winning, 25-9.

Alicja Pokrzywa (Parsippany, N.J.) recorded five digs in the first set.
SECOND SET HIGHLIGHTS: The Golden Eagles took the second set, 28-26, to take the 2-0 lead in the match.
- Providence got off to a 6-4 lead to start the set.
- The Friars extended their lead to 12-8 in the middle of the set.
- Marquette answered with a 7-3 run to tie the score, 15-15.
- The Friars went on a 6-4 run, forcing the Golden Eagles to call a timeout late in the set.
- Marquette tied the set at 21-21.
- After a Providence to call a timeout, Marquette scored fourunanswered points to win the set.

Kayla Grant (Rowlett, Texas) had five kills in the second set.
THIRD SET HIGHLIGHTS: Marquette won the third set, 25-12, to win the match.
- The Golden Eagles took a 5-1 lead to start the set and resulted in a Providence timeout.
- Marquette extended its lead to 14-5.
- The Golden Eagles controlled their lead the remainder of the set winning, 25-12.

Sammie Ruggles (North Olmsted, Ohio) recorded seven assists in the third set.
