PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College women's soccer team is set to return to Chapey Field at Anderson Stadium to face BIG EAST opponent Butler University on Thursday, September 29 in Providence, R.I. The match will be nationally televised on FS1 and is set to begin at 7:00 p.m. The Friars will then travel to Omaha, Neb. to face the Creighton Bluejays on Sunday, Oct. 2.

PINKUS NAMED TO THE BIG EAST WEEKLY HONOR ROLL… Graduate student
Hannah Pinkus was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Monday, Sept. 26. Pinkus scored the game-winning goal in the 87
th minute against BIG EAST opponent Seton Hall on Thursday, Sept. 22. She is the second leading scorer for the Friars this season tallying four points on two goals.
FRIARS PICKED FOURTH IN BIG EAST PRESEASON POLL… The BIG EAST conference announced its women's soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll on Thursday, Aug. 11. The Friars were picked to finish fourth in the BIG EAST behind Georgetown, Xavier and Butler.
Hughes was the lone Friar to receive preseason recognition as a member of the Preseason All-BIG EAST Team. Last season, Hughes started in all 20 games for the Friars. She led Providence in points (22), goals (nine) and was tied for second on the team in assists (four). At the conclusion of the season, she earned a spot on the All-BIG EAST First Team.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST BUTLER… The Friars hold a 3-9-1 record against the Bulldogs. In 2021, Providence fell to Butler, 1-0, in overtime in Indianapolis, Ind.
SCOUTING THE BULLDOGS… Butler enters Thursday's match with a 3-6-1 overall record. The Bulldogs are seeking their first BIG EAST win after going 0-2 in the first week of conference play. Butler fell to Xavier (1-0) on Sept. 22 and Marquette (4-1) on Sept. 25 in Indianapolis, Ind.
Forward Katie Soderstrom leads the Bulldogs offense in 2022 with 16 points on six goals and four assists. She leads the BIG EAST in game-winning goals, shots on goal per game, total goals, points and assists. Forward Abigail Isger follows Soderstrom with seven points on three goals and one assist. Goalkeeper Anna Pierce has started in every game for the Bulldogs. She has tallied a 1.32 goals against average and a 0.717 save percentage.
SERIES HISTORY AGAINST CREIGHTON…The Friars holds a 5-3-0 advantage over the Bluejays. Providence defeated Creighton, 1-0, in overtime last season in Providence, R.I.
SCOUTING THE BLUEJAYS… Creighton enters the weekend with a 4-2-4 overall record. The Bluejays suffered their first two losses of the season against BIG EAST opponents UConn (2-1) and No. 23 Georgetown (4-0) last week. Creighton will look to clinch its first BIG EAST win against Marquette on Sept. 29 before welcoming the Friars to Omaha.
Forward Jenny Grissom and Ariana Mondiri both lead the Bluejays offense with six points. Grissom has tallied three goals while Mondiri has registered two goals and two assists. Goalkeeper Keelan Terrell has played 900 minutes in goal this season. Opponents have scored 11 goals against her and she has made 28 saves in net.
UP NEXT… The Friars will return to Chapey Field for a pair of BIG EAST match-up's against DePaul University on Thursday, Oct. 6 and St. John's University on Sunday, Oct. 9.
