NEWTON, MASS. – The Providence College field hockey team fell to Boston University, 2-1, on Friday, Aug. 26 at the Boston College Field Hockey Complex in Newton, Mass. The game was interrupted by severe weather in the area, and the teams finished the final 10:27 of regulation after a three-hour and 22-minute delay.
1ST QUARTER:

Cami Crook (Somerset, Mass.) gave the Friars a 1-0 lead at the 12:44 mark. She collected a rebound off the goalkeeper's pads following an initial shot by Eleonore de Keyser (Brussels, Belgium) on a penalty corner and fired a low shot just inside the right post, unassisted.
• Providence led in shots (4-1) and shots on goal (3-1). Both teams recorded one penalty corner in the opening 15 minutes.

Asia Porter (Somerset, Mass.) saved the Terrier's lone shot of the quarter for her first save of the season.
2ND QUARTER:
• Providence carried its 1-0 lead into halftime as both teams were scoreless in the second quarter.
• The Terriers held a 2-1 advantage in shots during the frame, with BU putting both attempts on target.
• Porter went into halftime with three saves.
• At the break, Providence held a 5-4 lead in shots
3RD QUARTER:
• Boston University tied the game just 1:44 into the third quarter as Tess Csejka redirected an awkwardly bouncing ball into the cage at the left post (1-1). Mikayla Crowley was credited with the assist.
• Payton Anderson, the Terrier's leading scorer from a season ago, put BU ahead 2-1 at 41:36. She converted on a direct shot during a penalty corner assisted by Ellie McIntyre and Thalia Steenssens.

Niamh Gowing (Dublin, Ireland) created a dangerous opportunity for the Friars in the offensive circle with 18 seconds left. Her backhanded shot was saved by the BU goalkeeper and yielded a Providence corner.
• Providence was unable to convert on the set-piece as De Keyser's shot was wide of the cage.
• Heading into the fourth quarter, the Friars held a 7-5 edge in shot attempts. Penalty corners were tied up, 2-2.
4TH QUARTER:
• The two teams were forced to clear the field with 10:27 remaining in the game due to lightning. A strong storm moved through the area.
• After a delay of three hours and 22 minutes, play resumed and the Friars gained a player advantage due to a green card assessed to Rachel Borzymowski as play was halted.
• With 2:02 remaining in regulation, the Friars pulled Porter from goal in favor of the extra attacker.
• Despite the advantage, Providence was unable to score the equalizer.
• Neither team recorded a shot in the fourth quarter.
NOTES / HIGHLIGHTS:
• Crook's goal in the first quarter marked the first tally of her collegiate career.
• Porter finished the game with three saves, while Caroline Kelly and Kate Thomason combined for three saves in the victory.
• De Keyser, a junior defender, made her collegiate debut for Providence and paced the Friars with two shots.
• The Friars held the advantage in shots (7-5), while BU recorded a 5-4 edge in shots on goal. Both teams completed regulation with two penalty corners, each scoring one goal on a set piece.
• Providence is scheduled to play its first six games on the road before hosting BIG EAST foe Villanova in its 2022 home opener at Lennon Family Field on Sept. 16.
• Seven of the Friars' 17 regular-season opponents are currently ranked in the NFHCA Division I National Coaches' Poll.
