PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College field hockey team will travel to Virginia for a pair of games this weekend against BIG EAST foe and 14
th-ranked Old Dominion and non-conference opponent VCU. The Friars and nationally-ranked Monarchs will square off on Friday, Oct. 14 at 2:00 p.m. in Norfolk, Va. Providence closes the trip against the Rams on Sunday, Oct. 16 at 1:00 p.m. in Richmond, Va.

SCOUTING PROVIDENCE COLLEGE (5-8, 2-2 BIG EAST):
• Providence enters the weekend with a 5-8 overall record, including a 2-2 mark in the BIG EAST.
• Five of the Friars' eight losses have come against nationally ranked opponents: No. 14 Boston College (4-0), No. 6 Iowa (3-1), No. 25 UMass (2-0), No. 11 UConn (4-0) and No. 22 Maine (3-0).

Ally DeCoste leads the Friars in scoring with 11 points on four goals and three assists.
• DeCoste has scored nine of her 11 points during BIG EAST Conference action (3g / 3 a). Her three goals have come on just five shot attempts. Additionally, two of her three goals in BIG EAST play have come inside the opening five minutes of action. She scored 4:32 into the match against Villanova and 1:21 into the match against Georgetown.
• DeCoste was named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on Sept. 27. She tallied three points for the Friars in a 4-0 victory over Georgetown. DeCoste notched the game-winning goal just 1:21 into match. She picked up an assist on the Friars' fourth goal of the afternoon.

Sophia Pompeo ranks second in scoring with nine points and is tied for the team lead in goals, with four. She also owns one assist on the season. Pompeo's younger sister, Lucia, also plays field hockey in the BIG EAST as a sophomore on Quinnipiac's roster.

Lisa McNamara is third on the team in scoring (eight points), having recorded two goals and a team-best four assists. She is 2-2 at the stroke mark this season. McNamara competed in the Nexus Championship this past summer.

Nora Goddard-Despot is fourth in scoring, with seven points, on two goals and three assists. Goddard-Despot is an active member of Canada's Junior Women's National Team.

Niamh Gowing rounds out the list of multi-goal scorers for Providence, having recorded six points on two goals and two assists.
• Eight different Friars have scored at least one goal.
• Eleven of the Friars' 18 goals this season have come in the second half or overtime. Their highest-scoring quarter this season has been the third quarter (seven goals).

Asia Porter has played 826 minutes in the cage this season and owns a 2.03 goals against average and a 0.748 save percentage. She also has registered two shut-out victories vs. Georgetown (4-0) and Holy Cross (1-0).
• Porter has been named to the BIG EAST Weekly Honor Roll on two occasions this season.

SCOUTING #14 OLD DOMINION (9-2, 3-1 BIG EAST):
• The Monarchs enter the weekend with a 9-2 overall record, including a 3-1 mark in the BIG EAST.
• ODU in in the midst of a four-game win streak.
• Old Dominion's offense is paced by five players who have reached double digits in the scoring column.
• Marlon de Bruijne leads the way with 23 points on 10 goals and three assists. Three of her 10 goals have been game winners.
• Delphine Le Jeune (7g / 1a) and Frederique Zandbergen (3g / 9a) are tied for second in scoring with 15 points each.
• Courtney Lynch (2g / 6a) and Aubrey Mytych (5g) round out the double-digit scorers with 10 points apiece.
• Mytych leads ODU in scoring during BIG EAST Conference play, as all five of her goals have come against league opponents.
• Cam MacGillivray has played 696 minutes in the cage and owns a 1.03 goals against average and a 0.824 save percentage.
SCOUTING VCU (8-5, 3-1 ATLANTIC 10):
• VCU enters the weekend with an 8-5 overall record, including a 3-1 mark in the A10.
• The Rams will face UMass on Friday, Oct. 14 in Amherst, Mass. before returning home to host the Friars on Sunday.
• VCU has suffered losses in two of its last three matches, with both losses coming against nationally-ranked teams. The Rams fell to No. 5 Louisville (3-1) and No. 14 Wake Forest (2-1). Sandwiched in between those losses, VCU defeated A10 foe Davidson (5-2).
• Sheridan Messier has played the majority of minutes in the cage for the Rams (742). She owns a 2.06 goals against average and a 0.738 save percentage.
• Offensively, the Rams are led by three players who have reached double digits in the points column. Bridget McCormick leads the squad with 15 points on six goals and three assists. Litiana Field has tallied 14 points on five goals and four assists and Camila Rosenbrock has recorded 11 points on five goals and one assist.
• Thirteen players on the roster have scored a goal for the Rams, including eight multi-goal scorers.
• Field leads the team in game-winning goals (three), while Georgia Carr-Brown owns two game winners.
WHAT'S NEXT:
• The Friars will return to Lennon Family Field in Providence, R.I. to host No. 16 Liberty in their final home game of the 2022 season. The match is slated for Friday, Oct. 21 at 2:00 p.m.
