Men's Hockey Slotted Fifth in Hockey East Preseason Coaches Poll, No. 12/14 in National Polls

PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Providence College men's hockey team was picked to finish fifth in the Hockey East Preseason Coaches Poll announced on Monday, Sept. 27. The Friars also slotted in at No. 12 in the USCHO and No. 14 in the USA Today/USA Hockey Magazine Polls.
UMass garnered eight of the 11 first-place votes and finished atop the poll with 107 points. Boston University (95 points), Boston College (89 points) and Northeastern (86 points) rounded out the top four with Providence earning 75 points. The Friars make their ninth-consecutive appearance in the top-20 of the season-opening USCHO Poll after finishing 16th in the final 2020-21 USCHO Poll.
Providence opens the 2021-22 regular season on Saturday, October 2 at Schneider Arena against Army West Point. Coverage begins live on NESN+, College SportsLive and NewsRadio 104.7 FM at 4 p.m.
