Volleyball Heads To UNH for 2021 Holly Young Tournament

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College volleyball team will travel to Durham, N.H. for the 2021 Holly Young Tournament on Sept. 2. The Friars will take on Siena and Fairleigh Dickinson University Friday, Sept. 3 at 12:30 p.m. and 3:30 p.m., respectively. Providence will conclude the tournament on Saturday, Sept. 4 against UNH at 2:00 p.m.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS: The Friars enter the tournament 3-1, including a 2-1 mark at the Army Invitational last weekend. Providence defeated Merrimack in straight sets and Iona in four sets. The Friars only loss in the tournament came against host Army (3-1). Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.)  and Shaliyah Rhoden (Rowlett, Texas) earned All-Tournament honors. The Friars most recently defeated the University of Rhode Island on Tuesday, August 31, winning in five sets (3-1).  
 
Rhoden leads the Friars with 50 kills on 129 total attacks. The freshman is ranked second in the BIG EAST in kills.
 
Barber has recorded four double-doubles in four matches. The graduate student leads the Friars in assists (157) and is second in digs (49). Barber is ranked second in the BIG EAST in assists.
 
Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y.) has registered a team-high 63 digs.
 
SCOUTING THE SAINTS: Siena travels to Durham, N.H. with a record of 0-3. At the Rumble In The Rockies Invitational last weekend, the Saints fell to Saint Mary's and dropped two matches against Wyoming, each in three sets.
 
Graduate student Emily Wunder leads the Saints in kills (19).
 
Sophomore Meghan Johnsson is averaging 4.67 assists per set and has totaled 42 assists overall.
 
Sophomore Greta Stjade and freshman Sara Wagner are tied for a team-high of 15 digs.
 
SCOUTING THE KNIGHTS: FDU comes into the Holly Young Tournament with a 2-1 record. The Knights most recently hosted their own tournament, where they defeated Manhattan and Eastern Shore and fell to Robert Morris.
 
Senior Victoria Demmene leads the Knights with 148 on 459 total attacks and is second on the team in digs (114).

Senior McKenna Setterlund has tallied a team-high 361 assists and 10.03 assists per set.
 
Senior Allison Koester has recorded a team-high 162 digs and 4.26 digs per set.
 
SCOUTING THE WILDCATS: UNH enters the weekend with a 1-2 record after competing at the Mercer Tournament. The Wildcats fell to Murray State and Mercer before a win against Stetson.

Sophomore Hannah Serbousek leads the Wildcats in kills (28) and kills per set (2.33). Servousek is fourth on the team in digs (22).
 
Junior Wren Macaulay has a team-high 105 assists.
 
Sophomore Mia Pagliarini has tallied 54 digs.

WHAT'S NEXT: The Friars will play a mid-week match against Merrimack College on Wednesday, Sept. 8 at 7:00 p.m. as they travel to North Andover, Mass.
