Volleyball Heads To Fordham for 2021 Rose Hill Classic

The Friars will play two matches on Saturday against St. Francis College Brooklyn and Fordham University.

PROVIDENCE, R.I.- The Providence College volleyball team will travel to Bronx, N.Y. for the 2021 Rose Hill Classic on Sept. 18. The Friars will play two matches on Saturday, first versus St. Francis College Brooklyn at 2:00 p.m. before playing host Fordham University at 6:00 p.m.

SCOUTING THE FRIARS: The Friars enter the tournament 10-1 after going 3-0 as host of the 16thAnnual Friar Volleyball Classic last weekend. Providence defeated Fairleigh Dickinson and Saint Peter's University in straight sets and Binghamton University in four sets. Maryanne Boyle (Blacklick, Ohio) earned tournament MVP and Mackenzie Taylor (Holbrook, N.Y) and Shaliyah Rhoden (Rowlett, Texas) earned All-Tournament honors.
 
Rhoden leads the Friars with 133 kills on 316 total attacks. The freshman is ranked seventh in the BIG EAST in kills per set (3.33).
 
Allison Barber (Woodbury, Minn.) has recorded seven double-doubles in 11 games. The graduate student leads the Friars in assists (389) and is second in digs (109). Barber is ranked first in the BIG EAST in service aces per set (0.43) and second in assists per set (10.51).
 
Taylor has registered a team-high 147 digs.
 
Boyle currently ranks fourth in the BIG EAST in hitting percentage (.343).
 
SCOUTING THE TERRIERS: St. Francis Brooklyn travels to Fordham with a record of 3-9. In the Columbia Tournament last weekend, the Terriers went 0-3, falling to Columbia, Seton Hall, and Iona. St. Francis also played a mid-week watch at Lafayette, falling in three sets.

Senior Madison Monahan leads the Terriers in kills (69).
 
Angelee Ng is averaging 7.29 assists per set and has totaled 299 assists overall. She is second on the team in digs (99).
 
Alasha Colon has registered a team-high 179 digs.
 
SCOUTING THE RAMS: Fordham comes into the Rose Hose Invitational with a 2-7 record. Last weekend, they went 0-3 at the Kaiser Classic, falling to St. John's and Army in five sets, and to Boston College in four.
 
Sophomore Whitley Moody leads the Rams with 126 kills on 382 total attacks and is second on the team in digs (74).
 
Junior Megan Brzozowski has tallied a team-high 270 assists and 8.18 assists per set.
 
Junior Mallory Lipski has recorded a team-high 145 digs and 4.14 digs per set.
 
WHAT'S NEXT: The Friars will begin their BIG EAST campaign on Friday, Sept. 24 as they travel to Xavier University at 6:00 p.m.
